MOTU PCI to PCIe .. simple swap?

i'm getting a mac pro to replace and update my old system .. an old power pc with PCI slots

i have a MOTU 1224 that has lasted me, unfailing and reliable for 10 years .. i was hoping that i could just get a new PCIe 424 card and plug and play with my 1224 breakout box

it is never that simple .. what kind of weird expensive bullcrap do i have to deal with here? .. i'd rather spend money on a new mic or preamp because that 1224 is totally good enough for me and the weird stuff i'm doing

MOTU.com - Legacy Compatibility

This page was from the 24 i/o, but has info pertaining to your 1224. Seems like it should be a simple swap.
