Joe Barresi Interview...

In anticipation of the Joe Barresi Series on Tracking and Mixing Rock, here is an interview that I did with him a few months ago. The entire interview is 50 minutes long, so be patient.
If you don't know Joe, first of all shame on you and secondly http://www.joebarresi.com/. ENJOY!

It might take sometime to load. The whole interview is about 295MB.
And I just found out there are 153 trying to watch right now.

wow - awesome interview! I always wondered what was up with the dog on that Melvins record

His "if it makes me wanna drive fast and shoot people" comments sounded a little too frightening for a mild-mannered Canadian like myself though

Tons of great Mary-Jane-inspired insights though!

Me and my colleague Charome shot this series . and I have
to say we were blown away by how hard Joe works on the
projects he takes on.

When he says he's passionate about stuff and gives 100% .. believe
it!

IMHO, there's a bunch of people in the music business that are famous
and are kind of coasting on their laurels .. hiring juniors and walking in
to sprinkle pixie-dust on at the end.

That's not Joe. If he takes something on, he pours himself into it.

Listening to Joe talk about the Melvins and his attitude towards recording is great. Thanks so much for putting this up! Many of his record have been inspirational to me, especially with respect to the attitude and ethos that translate throughout the material.

Hey Rail! I think Jeff is breaking it up in 10 minutes segments and encoding/uploading to YouTube. We just thought we would give Gearslutz members a first look.

Most excellent! Thanks for posting that, Tony, and for conducting the interview.

Will the full version also have Joe giving a little tour around the control room at JHOC?

Jeff can correct me if I'm wrong, but we shot for 5 days at Joes place. There's almost 2TB of footage. Poor Jeff had to go through and timeline 4 cameras. Trust me, you will see a ton of JHOC.

Yes, that's correct. We were shooting 4 cameras, 5 if you count the
screen captures. 5 days total. We have enough for a movie :-)

But, yes, we have lots of shots of JHOC both video and stills and
we're doing some animations to show the mic placements
in Joe's main tracking room. Should be very cool.
