How can I re-connect a separated 57's element?

A friend gave me a dead SM57 he had lying around. It's pretty new however somehow the thin wires between the element and the body got completely severed and the element or "head" or "cartridge" can be pulled completely off. How might I re-soldier these thin wires?

In related news I've also got a 58 that has weak output. What could cause that?

Thanks slutz.

I found this useful blog:

Chitt Productions: How to Fix a Broken Dynamic Microphone

Looks like the thing to do is wave a burning lighter under the tiny wire to melt the insulation and use some other conductive material to attach the wire ends such as soldier braid and avoid heating the tiny wire directly as it will likely just burn and disintegrate.
