My 1202VLZ just died.. I have a lunchbox with 6 API 512c's in it that's never

really used.. Is there a mix module that I can plug these mic pre's into to make a mixer? API's website does not list a mix module/section.. SSL lists this:

Solid State Logic | Music

..but that's only for the X-Logic chassis and I'm sure its sickeningly expensive.

Thanks in advance..

I had one of the small Mackies once... if I recall there are a few ribbons inside that you might try reseating on the PC board. That might be the problem, unless the thing doesn't even show power. Just be sure to unplug before opening it up (stating the obvious, I know...). stike

Thanks I'll try it.. thinking of upgrading anyway..

I'd also like to put my 512c's to use.. is there a device I can mix the 512c outputs together for a stereo out?

If you want to keep it in the proverbial family you can run them through an 8200A...

In terms of sound quality, a passive summing mixer could be ideal. Check out the SM Pro PM8 or the Folcrom.

Question

Is the following equipment used together better than just using a mini mixer:

Six API 512c's (I own these & never use them)
Coleman Audio TB4 MKII (I own this & never use it)
SM Pro Audio PM8 (considering buying)

I only need 3 stereo in's (daw, keybd, cd)

or maybe just buy an Onyx mixer ??

Thanks and then thanks

sorry for the lame post below.. i've been using two 512's and just plugging into the front what i want to hear.. gosh those 512's are really good/solid sounding.. less gain would be good so you can hit them harder

i bought a PM-8 at musician's friend but they sent me a JBL speaker instead.. i'm sending back the speaker and canceling the order.. weary about the pm-8 .. I'll just patch cables into the 512's for now . too damn solid sounding.. eventually i'll need to hear 3 stereo inputs at once though..

+1 on the ribbons.

Had the same problem on a 1604VLZ. Mackie (when they were still in USA) sent me new cables. I installed, not for the faint of heart, and all has been well.

Re-seating usually fixes the bugs BTW.

Hey CC1

Maybe give JLM a call/email. They make a small mixer that fits into the power supply section of the api lunk box. I thinks it around $450AUS.
cheers
