Headroom at mixdown

Just wondering how much headroom you typically leave at mixdown (for mastering)?

All kidding aside, I mix pretty hot. I just like the tone most of the time. I don't look to the ME to add 8db. I just mix for the sound I like.

I mix pretty hot too. The sweet spot on my console is about +3 or 4. I don't mix expecting the mastering to give it balls - but I don't smash it into a 2x4 waveform either. If you want your mixes to have some dynamics you need to leave some room for the ME to work with.
