Chip Coleman's music store is in China Grove and that's definitely something that China Grove has over most of the other little towns aroudn there. But otherwise, I would have no reason to go to China Grove.
I run a studio/venue in Greensboro and love it. I'm not really sure what exact scene your looking for. LA/NY rockstar types don't do well here. Lots of really great down to earth musicians who are all almost exclusively independent. Indie rock, punk, and college type rock to really well here. Bands I really enjoy from Greensboro are:
i recorded the decoration ghost cd here at my home. it was a rush job because the bass player, tim, had ALS and was loosing his dexterity as the project progressed. the last day of recording he was on crutches and could barely grip his pick, but still did a fantastic job!
