Anyone using PT with audio on a RAID array?

I know Digi says they don't support RAID technology, but with my
new 002, I've done a small handful of sessions with the audio being
stored on my 2-way IDE RAID array. No problems. Anyone else
doing this?

Here for the gear

ya, i tried running a backup drive which was a 300 gig mirror array on the same computer and after some time Pro Tools would unexpectedly quit everytime I tried to export or import files and had to choose a destination. Since I moved to PT7 and Tiger, no problems, but the Array drive hasn't been on since....I'll give it a shot again another time, but there's a reason why they say no - why chance it?

Here is what I wrote over at the DUC.

RAID does work!!

I just built 2 ProTools 7 HD/Accel 4 systems (core + 3 Accel cards). The system is stable and working perfectly. The systems are identical except for the mobo. The 2 motherboards are the Intel D865PERL and the D875PBZ. The rest of the system is as follows:

Processor: Intel 3.2E
Graphics: Gigabyte 6600GT with Heatpipe
OS drive: Seagate 7200.9 120GB with 8mb cache
Audio drive: WD SATA Raptor 74GB x 2 in a RAID 0 Array.
Archive: Seagate 7200.9 400GB IDE
Operating system: Windows XP Pro
DVD/CD drive: Plextor 740
Floppy drive to set up RAID
Antec 4u Rack case with 500 watt Antec 2.0 PS

I'm using a Control 24, (2) 192 I/O, Sync I/O, Midi I/O and Digidelivery system.

Regards,
Bruce

Yep I would think that a decent hardware raid controller card would present itself to the computer as a single drive - this means that the PC can't tell the difference between a raid or a single drive (apart from speed).

You do need a decent HARDWARE raid card however.
