... who's on it? What artist do you want to work with before either their career or yours is over?

Me? Sting.

If your clones look like your avatar I'm with you on that one

And I'm assisting on Mike's AC/DC recording

There's some Bernard Herman and John Williams i've got to help with

and also the JB's and whoevers left from any of the big soul bands

Keith Jarret and his trio definitely need me to hold a mic

Motorhead, Ozzy (if he could 'un'-lose it) just to say I did it, Beastie Boys (cuz it would be fun), Digital Underground (just cos I love that old school funk rap with daft lyrics), Leif Odes Andsnes the classical pianist (I would like to write something for him to play actually), erm...Michael Jackson (see Ozzy), I'd like to see the mixers who have already been mentioned on other posts do their thing and help (the TLA's and Bob's of the world)...erm

You can go on forever with these things.

I'd like to work on a new Yello album should they ever do anything new just 'cos it'd be wacky and fun

erm

Beefheart...erm, is Van Vliet still going?

Stones, for history

Human League, to attempt a ressurection of 80's perfect pop cheese

Madness (again, if former glories could be regained)

Dolly Parton and her BAND and anything C&W involving fantastic musicians

Tina Turner (if I had a song worthy)

(endless list)

Buckshot- ditto

Ras Kass- his career never really got started

Dead Prez - to militant to getta career going

Jedi Mind tricks- they talk alot about choking the pope wit his rosary so i don't think that'll be on the radio...

and any RNB singer before they reach thirty..except the fat ones...

hetfield- Drink a case of beer with him then write some songs.

Kirk- Make him shred along to crappy Ingwee albums

Trujillo- put a hat back on him with the bil flipped up.

I don't really have specific guys I'd like to record, except maybe Jimmy Smith and Zigaboo Modeleste. What I DO want to have in the studio are more guys who play it right the first time - there's nothing like listening to the monitors while tracking a full band (complete with vocalists) and knowing that you're hearing the record; recording music where nothing needs to be added, nothing needs to be taken away and for damn sure, nothing will need to be 'edited'.

The remote guys know - the magic is in the musicians, NOT the engineer.

J.J. Cale in the studio and it very likely would be close to that.
I at least would die for that session.
Hopefully though afterwards.

if we're talking dream session players, that's a whole new list!

Russ Miller on Drums
Marcus Miller on Bass
Dominic Miller on Guitar

I'll change my name to Miller and cover keys, just for ****s and giggles. Or, if I'm not available, Billy Preston and Joe Sample

Always wanted to record either Ray Brown or Red Mitchell, because with bass sounds that huge, it would be hard not to get something amazing. But out of today's crop, I'd go with Christian McBride.

On the softer side:
Wilco
Elliot Smith
And I would intern for 10 years with who ever tracked
N. Merchants "Tigerlily". Damb! I love those sounds.

Harder:
Dave Ghroll (?)

I don't think I'm talking abous session players; Zigaboo was the drummer with the Meters, and Jimmy Smith is one of the great organists of all time.

I work with session players who play it right the first time every day; I want to hear a whole band like that...

I'll have a George Martin with a Tony Cohen/Nick Cave album on the side thanks....

Wiggy, taste in music, you stole half my other suggestions!

Joe Satrini just from a "guitar, guitar, guitar" point of view- I have a feeling that here's a guy who would let my mess with his tracking no-end to get a cool sound, my cup 'o tea.

hrmm...who else.... There's a bunch of rooms I'd love to get the chance to record in, for example,
Air Lyndhurst
Real World
Abbey Road
301 Byron Bay (looks nice up there!)

Thanks De Cob!
I knew it was Bearville but, not who Engineered.

Now my personal fantasy can evolve:

Elliot Smith at Bearsville in the big room w/John.

What ever happened to "Being chased to death by topless roller blading super-models eating bananas"?

I must be growing........Ah! Who am I fooling?

If I was in that situation we would have the budget for both.
