AT4060 and API527 different enough?

interested in an AT4060 and an API527

I have a U87 and an AT4050 and a 414 ..is the AT4060 going to be a 'different enough' from these to justify the buy?

I also have a
Purple Action
neve portico (comp)
few Altec units (1591, 1612, 438_
Avalon 737 (baby face)

same Q.. is the 527 different enough?

if you have any of the stuff from the list and either of the 'want to buy' pieces I would appreciate hearing your experience.

thanks-

Can't speak on the microphone selection,

But you don't seem to have any discrete API compressors.

They don't sound or act like anything you have. Certainly nothing like the Action, and couldn't be more different than the 737's compressor

Lives for gear
The AT4060 is probably closest to your U87. Similar high mid bump but warmer. Sold my 4050 but I am pretty sure the 4050 is brighter. it has a wider cardioid pattern than any of those mics. When you get the 4060, if the tube hasn't already been replaced, I would replace it with a JJ version, which sounds better than the stock Sovtek and better than the JAN version NOS tube.

thanks ..'kinda' what i thought.. probably get more variety out of the Comp than the mic.

my take on the 4060 is that it is a good sounding mic but does not have a blatantly tubey or 'lo fi' sound.
