Beyer M88 or M88TG?

I seem to recall a while back someone outlining the differences between these two mics, saying one of them was not as durable for kick drum. Beyer says on their website that the TG should be used with a pop screen or windscreen when being used on bass or kick (!). First off, is the TG not a good durable choice for kick, or is this overstated, or am I just remembering wrong? Second, if I do get it anyway, should I use a pop filter and wouldn't this affect the attack of the kick?

Thanks for any help. I've found a good deal, but I don't want it if I can't use it on kick and bass.

The TG model has a different, stronger basket than the "classic".
I think Beyer will switch either basket over if you want.
The best thing is probably to contact a tech directly there.

I've never used the TG version, but I doubt a vocal-type pop filter would have much effect on the attack. It's just a god-awful pain in the ass to have to use one, if true...
