Yamaha REV5 Dilemma
Hey guys,
I love my Yamaha REV5 - I use it for the E/R Early Reflection Presets only, but in every mix. It does that really well.

However, this thing is noisy, even with proper gain staging. I mean, I use other older hardware reverbs and this thing really sticks out as far as noise, it's annoying.

Am I getting the same cool Early Reflection Programms with later Yamaha Reverbs, say the SPX990 or REV500?

Any ideas/alternatives?

any decent reverb plugin in the last 5 years? Not trying to be facetious, but you don't mention how you're tracking - DAW, etc.

I held on to my SPX90 for years because I liked the delay sounds, etc. As it got noisier and noisier I could have shipped it off to Jim Williams, but found instead the Digi Delay plugins worked as well and gave me more flexibility.

bringing up this old topic because i want to recreate the REV-5's setting memory slot "5" "EARLY REF. 1" in the plugin world because ive run out of I/O in my hybrid setup.

did anyone ever find a similar setting digitally?

Sample it with Waves IR-1 or other sampling verb.

I have many of my favorite hardware verb settings sampled and use them all the time.

REV500 is not the same, not nearly as cool. I like the Rev 5 too. Still use them live (when we send out an analog FOH setup)

Rev500 with a spdif connection would make a poor substitute. I used to have one, never liked it.

Recommended: the built in DSP reverbs on yamaha digital consoles ie 01v96, DM1000, lS9, M7 etc...
