Palmer Pdi-09 V HK Red Box

Hello, am looking at these di's for the cab sim, running a Sansamp PSA 1.1 into desk for home recording.

What would be your pick for sound quality.
thanks.

I haven't used either but the Palmer gets more love among the few people who use these kinds of tools.

Here for the gear

I have both plus a radial JDX. Just recently I did a shootout with all 3 of them using my CAE OD100cl+ to the DI to a Hot Plate set to load.

The H&K red box sounded better at cleaner/ low gain sounds than heavier stuff.

The Palmer PDI- 9 sounded a little more organic than the red box and has very useful options such as mellow, normal, bright plus a 30,15 or 0db attenuator.

The Radial JDX had the biggest and the most organic sound out of the 3. Its eq'ed a little darker than the other 2 but it sounds a lot bigger and better to my ears. I just cranked the highs a little more on my amp and that was it.

Hope it helps.
