I'm gonna give my impersonation of Sinbad a shot.

"Can't drink a milk shake at Mc Donalds! They give you a little straw employees be laughin at ya in the back watchin' you suck your brains out! Woman love to shop! They sure do like to shop. The worst shoppers are the woman with the big butts. They bumpin in to you and stuff!"

Exactly. Sinbad is easily one of the top 6 billion comedians in the world.

Hey RB,

Did you get a chance to hear the Bricasti V2 patches?

Sure would like to get your take on them, if you did!

No huge announcements that I've heard or seen so far. I saw a pre-release version of Altiverb 7 - nice, but not happening until May or so...

It will have a search feature so you can find all your "wood halls" or "plates" or "tile" or whatever. The UI is also vastly improved - simpler.

Talking to Mike Griffin from Allen and Heath about the new ZED R24 console. And talking to Will Shanks from UA about the upcoming Ampex and Studer tape emulations. Good stuff in the works from both companies!

Yup, he was at Earthworks. It was great seeing him again as I missed him at the Anita Baker show in LA last month. I finally got him his copy of the Rhodes tribute concert I mixed that he played at 3 years ago out in the lobby.

I got to see other old friends like Peter Frampton and others.

I was talking to Dr. Duke about his custom D-6 clavinet that he mounted a whammy bar onto. He still has it. Then I run into Mick Parrish (Stevie Wonder) and mentioned that mod to him as I do all of Stevie's keyboards.

He said, "let's keep THAT ONE to ourselves". I thought about it and agreed.

Outside of ver. 2 Bricasti, nothing in semi pro audio impressed me. I did find some nice MI stuff. Fender has a new line of classic Squire guitars that are excellent. The metal work is smooth, the woods great. They easily beat out in quality the American made versions that were mistakenly put on display near them.

I also ordered a new "Hag-Strum" 8 string bass, excellent quality and an incredible price. Hello, 1968!

I saw and heard many small guitar amps, some very expensive. Most of them sounded very peaky in the 2~3.5 k hz zone, sort of like ice picks to my ears. Most of the large amps didn't have a clear sound, just more or less a large fuzz tone.

This was the loudest Namm I've ever been to since 1976. The sound guy said it was running at 90+ db at 2 pm. If you didn't get a chance to hear audio gear before 10:30 AM, forget it.

Namm is slow to organize the floor allocation. There are now enough pro audio vendors to fill one room. It makes zero sense to put Marshall right next to a botique audio company. Vendors should complain to obtain better booth allocations next year.

Meeting Sinbad!
Hilarious! The last NAMM I attended was in 1994 and I was waiting in line for a pizza when Sinbad came in to pick up his order. My buddy blurts out, "Hey, Sinbad!" And as it turns out he seemed like a pretty cool guy and was there having a good time along with everyone else. I wonder if he attends every year.

The new ADAM monitors, the Manley Labs gear, and most definitely, modular synthesizers.

Didn't get to meet Sinbad, but Paul Barker of Ministry is 1/2 of Malekko Heavy Industry, modular synths and guitar pedals...

I saw security discussing locked bikes to the stair rails. Next year you will get "towed". They want that parking $$$.
