Have you heard a nice 5.1 system for under... $2000?

Hi! Please, share your experience with me if you've heard or know a good (okay, decent?) sounding 5.1 system for under $2000. It could be anything: active monitors or hi-fi stuff. Some may say it's not an appropriate forum, but I know not of another forum with so many experienced people who KNOW what a good sound is.

This is slightly above your limit, but for $2,100 you can buy a Genelec 5040a subwoofer and five 6010a powered monitors.

I use Blue Sky ProDesk 2:1 system and it sounds wonderful. You can easily add onto it to make it 5:1, but that's probably going to stretch your budget unless you score a 2nd-hand system.

A few years ago Radical Sound (SF) had a 5.1 thing going with NHT A20s and S20 subwoofers, I think that was acquired used for just under $2k, and it sounded good.

Thank you all for your answers! Did I fail to mention that $2000 includes amplifier/reciever or whatsoever? These doesn't include only interface, which is probably going to be a LynxTwo-B.

Genelec 5040a subwoofer and five 6010a powered monitors is an interesting option. I'm going to find them and listen to them.

How about this:
3x KRK RP5 G2 (rears & centre)
2x KRK RP8 G2 (front)
1x KRK 10S

Listened to KRKs today and I think they'll have just enough power to rock my friend's room which isn't quite small (~20 m²).

Way under $2K....

Hsu ventriloquist speakers/sub $500

Oppo dv-980h $250

OPPO DV-980H 1080p Up-Converting Universal DVD Player with HDMI and 7.1CH Audio

Japanese receiver (Onkyo, for example, approx $400) ......... or ....... something fancy like a Parasound Halo, but that will kill your budget

Product Lines > Halo

The only reason to spend more is to get more volume in very large rooms.

HSU systems look very promising. Parasound Halo P3 should be a good quality amp too. The problem is, I can't buy HSU in Moscow.
And I don't require CD/DVD-players, the source is PC.
