Intro sound to Sigur Ros' Takk... ideas?

I love the bubbly synth intro Takk. I'm certain it's layers of samples and a bunch of processing, but any ideas as to what might be going on there?

A kinda similar kind of sound/effect can be heard in Mum's, "Far Away Swimmingpool" from the album "Finally We Are No One."

Any ideas how one might recreate that with a guitar? I'm thinking maybe reverse delay > auto-wah with a high resonant frequency > pitch shifter > delay/verb?

It's very elusive...

I think that's layers and layers of guitar fingertapping into delays...

Here for the gear

Saw them live... I think they walked out to this track playing over the P.A.. Maybe use a ton of reverb + delay + looper to recreate on guitar?

Wicked wicked show by the way, at Massey Hall, was probably the most sonically-impressive show I've ever seen. He plays his electric with a bow to create the huge droning guitar (a la Svefn-G-Englar on Agaetis Byrjun) - in case you were wondering how to recreate that!

Hey, you're in Toronto?!

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of the cello bow on el. guitar.

That would be their studio - home

Ken Thomas is a reverb/delay freak. Very long decay/feedback.

I FIGURED IT OUT:

It's either a string sample or bowed guitar, going into a Mutronics Mutator.

You can hear a similar effect being used in sound sample three.
