shocking animals in studio experience today

alright, i had some strange situations, but this one today is really strange
days before, we wondered about a strange smell in the studio
we couldn´t locate it first, we thought it´s from the recording room, so we opened the windwos for an hour an thought it would be ok...well, it wasn´t
ok, we searched but didn´t find the source, it smelled like a something dead, you know this sweet disgusting stench
ok, today we wanted to solve the problem and searched
so we went to the kitchen/chill out room and set down to discuss where to search next
i got my special leather "chief" chair, lol, alright
a friend than said that the stench might be from my position, ok ididn´t have a shower, but i´m not this strange...
we searched the chair and there was a very fat rat inside, i was 99% near gettig my lunch back to the table
the beast didn´t come out, hell, our luck
we threw the chair out of the window and the rat run away
hell, i sat there for days with a fat rat under my ass...
recording music is dangerous :-)

I had a baby rat crawl up my snakes and sit on the meter bridge between my NS-10s staring at me while I was mixing. I couldn't bring myself to kill it (not the killing kind apparently) and it took me a while to drive it out of the control room. That very day I went to an animal shelter and got a cat. Not a sign of rats since thank god (or cat)...

hehe, good idea, i should get a cat
i also heard that where rats live, there are no mice
i´m located in a huge industrial park
i think there will be many rats around
i´ve seen one month ago outside
maybe i really should get a cat (or is there a plug-in for that? :-) )

Mice have one disadvantage compared to rats: They are incontinent ie mice continuously dribble piss where ever they go!

Is this true?

Geezes. I think whatever 'cute factor they might had just went down significantly.

As a New Yorker, I can tell you first-hand that this is definitely not true.

hehheh Actually I am sure the Kitty Kitty was a bit hungry and pretty damn tough!!
If you look close there are 3 porcupine quills sticking out of her face.

You may not see them but they are most certainly still there. That is 100% certain. The presence of a cat won't scare them away. It just makes them hide. Get an exterminator. That's the only way to be sure they're gone.

I could hear them inside the wall chewing through glass wool and insulation making their way into the control room. They made two holes (one of them that baby rat used to get in) but whenever there's activity there's glass wool piled around them. Haven't heard a sound or seen any wool bits in over a year.

There are still some in the back yard and I let the cat out there every once on a while... you should see what she does to them. Babies and full-grown rats alike. If I were a rat I'd be running for cover.

I did have an exterminator over and she (go figure) suggested stuffing rat poison in both of those holes but the last thing I need is a dead rat decaying in my control room wall next to the client couch. If they were to re-appear I'd much rather have them eaten alive and save on some cat food ;-)

a very real possibility when you use the poison

We had a cat that never ate cat food again once he learned what was inside a mouse.

Crease up..

That reminds me of a little, non-music related story:

My old alcoholic friend 'Trev' had his mattress on the floor in his room in his absolute state of a house. Basically, rats knawed through the floor and into his matress. However, he didn't find out the rats were in there until he, erm....sh*t the bed one night when he was pissed out of his face. I don't really see him that much anymore.

hey guys, thanks
sorry for beeing late
the smell wasn´t a rotten animal, it was a broken gas pipeline in the studio
i got to replace a usb cable in the office from pc to printer and went under the table
the smell was insane
ok, it was the source, we did fix it, smell gone, happy camper
but the rat problem is still here
i bought this blue poisen packs, placed in the corners of the floors and 2 packs are gone
i hope ill solve the problem
i´m an animal fan, i respect and love animals, but i got to do something
the rats will eat it and suffer, ok, that´s bad, but there is no other way

Yeah, rats can be a real ongoing problem. They routinely evade traps and attempts to plug entrance routes. Recently they chewed the wiring for my track lighting and my doorbell/intercom.
