Best sub-$500 interface that works with Cubase LE4?

Hey guys.. I'd like to upgrade my interface, as I'm currently using a Lexicon Alpha, and two tracks (or one stereo) at a time is somewhat limiting.

I tried the search, and wasn't really able to find any info... I'm actually pretty disappointed with the search feature, considering the rest of this site is as rad as it is.

Anyway, I'm running Cubase LE4 (came with the Alpha) and I'm quite comfortable/happy with it, so I'd like to continue using that if possible.

I'd like something with at least 8 analog ins, and would prefer USB2.0 over firewire, as I don't currently have any firewire ports; so that would add more expense to the upgrade.

The quality of the pres isn't that critical, as I'm running through my yamaha mixer first, and I'm happy with it's pres for what I'm doing.

$500 would be the MAX budget for the upgrade, but less expensive would certainly be better...

So, what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!
Steve

if you are using other pre's and all you need is the converter, check out the echo audiofire stuff, great stuff for the money. It's firewire though.

Here are some options

M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R USB 2.0 Audio Interface

Line 6 Toneport UX8 USB 2.0 Computer Recording Interface

Lexicon Ionix U82S USB 2.0 Recording Audio Interface

Zoom R16 Multi-Track SD Recorder Interface and Controller

The last one is interesting as it can work as a DAW controller.

My favour goes to Line 6 both for very good S/N ratio and brand loyality

Cheerz!!

Try an Alesis MultiMix USB 2.0 board; you'll get 8 inputs into your Cubase software and a stereo out (playback).
