What should Neumann do?

My studio purchased 2 U87's. Without having them for a very long time, one of the wooden boxes broke and the mic was dropped because the hinge on the box fell apart. Please note- these things are kept in a safe mic locker and are handled with care.

The mic was luckily not dented or ruined aesthetically, but it wasn't working. I jiggled the xlr cable and it came back. It worked for a while until the next adventure.

The shock-mount, also not abused in any way, gave out. While adjusting the mic, the screw section of the shock-mount stopped holding the mic, and the mic swung down and slammed against a mic stand.

Neither of these things could have been prevented. It was a faulty box and a faulty shock-mount.

The shock-mount sells new for $369.99. The box sells new $169.99.

I am buying neither. I have purchased a $3,000 mic, and the accessories that came with it are faulty?? Not only do I have a broken box and shock-mount, but because of this, my microphone is broken and useless. Why should I have to pay to get these fixed when Neumann sent me garbage??

What should I do and what should I expect from Neumann?

I would speak with your dealer, and if not satisfied write the company Might make a better impression to write a letter on your letterhead and mail it, with or without an email...
