jingle writing

I've got a question concerning jingle writing, that I didn't really find an answer to in my search.

I work for a small studio that does on hold recording, web audio, some radio spots. Now the higher ups are looking into doing jingles.

I've seen some ballpark figures for pricing on other threads, but my situation is a little different. They're looking to me to write jingles for the interested clients. How on earth would this be sold? If we're assuming that it's my intellectual property does my company have the right to sell it with out some sort of written consent? The whole jingle thing is a new idea, so it's not in my job description.

How should I proceed with this possible new endeavor?

It would generally be a Work for Hire, with the Advertising agency or their client owning the rights
