I didn't need eight either, but it's looking like that's what I'm going to have to do in order to get the quality, features, and stability that I want.

I might use 3 or 4, as someone suggested... For miking congas or something, or 2 on a source and 1 room mic, but I doubt that I will be using all 8. Couldn't you realistically mike a whole 4-piece band with 8 ins?
