Any Luv for the Studio Electronics c2s??

I just bought a S.E. C2S compressor(1176 style w/1272 output)from a member and was wondering how folks like them now?

Is there any love for them now? Or are they just not the deal?

Thanks!

Trevor

Yes it is a killer unit without a doubt. It really has a special sound with the Neve output transformers which I believe it uses. Fat as all hell on drums and percussion. It reacts like a 1176 but has a presence that is unique. If you want something to stand out in a mix put it through this unit and it will be in your face. A little more finickey to set up because of the smaller knobs. If and when they ever stop making it it will become a classic. Last but not lease don't worry about if there's any love for the machine use it and don't tell anybody. LoL

I love it. I use it for tracking to get a nice fat tone. Really nice on vocals. I suggest to not use the meters, adjust by ear and you will love it. The meters are probably it's bad point, but the sound is it's good point and I think the sound wins every time. Built like a tank too!

I'm with you on that the meters are different though I kinda like em.

I'm willing to bet had Studio Electronics put two VU meters on the front panel aka API these things would be flying out the door like crazy. It would have peeked more interest and prompted a lot of people to give it a shot and then all would know how truely bad this motha is.

Opps there I go tellin everything. I need to keep my big mouth shut.

LoL

Wow! This does sound great!

I agree the meters suck but, what a sound!
This one I have happens to have been modded by SE so that low freq.
can be slightly bypassed on the compression.Very subtle but, cool.
Very under rated. Really! I've tried the UA(hifi) and the Purple(bright). I like
them too. I would say this would sit beside them very nicely.
2Thumbs up! If you can get one of these even at the normal price ,it's worth it!
If you get a great deal like I did,it's a no brainer. a little over a grand for two ch. of 1176-ish compressors. It does act like them ,it just has it's own sound.
Get one before they are gone!

Very satisfied!Like a slut!

What do you folks mean by a Neve input/output transformer stage in the C2s? Carnhills? Doubtfully.

Just picked up one used for a great price. Not regretting it already.
