Easiest ProTools question ever asked at Gearslutz?

This one´s been bugging me for quite some time.

When I´m in cycle/loop mode working on a specific part of a track
and I want to insert a plug-in in the mix window the locators "disapears" in the edit window after insertion and I have to set the locators agian. Frustrating. How can I keep the locators?

for example :

create 2 locators ... one at the beginning and the other at the end of the selection you wish to loop.

after inserting a plugin you recall the first locator and then while holding the SHIFT button recall the second locator. that selects the time between both locators.

create 1 heh locator with selection enabled in pop up menu (locator)
every time you select locator, you have your selection.

what system are you on anyhow .... tried it today to make sure but it doesn't do that for me when inserting a plugin ... the selection remains.

Apologies if this is too obvious, but have you got "timeline follows insertion" ticked in the OPERATIONS prefs? If so, you'll lose your loop selection when you stop the track to insert a plug-in. If this an LE system and you're inserting on the fly I don't know...

Thanks all.

Rab: I´ll have to double check that one.
Andre: Tried the pop-up locator thing. it´s nice, but not what I was looking for. quite handy for other things and a temporay solution to this probelm

C.Lamberts, Found the above solution before seening your post.

The funny thing is that it used to work the way I wanted to before (insert plug-in, and the "tool" kept on playing from the locators in loop-playback mode), must have hit some devastating key-combo to deserve this.

Thanks again,
Jens
