Still STACKING....vocals questions

Im doing my best to layer long spoken word tracks, they just dont sound well when I stop line by line. Its pretty hard to layer a paragraph at a time? any advice for stacking longer passages?

*when stacking is it best to start with a complete dry track? or would it have compression on it? and then follow with the more effects tracks?

would track one be dry vocals? panned. *any send effects here?
track two effects vocals panned?
then third track to accentuate certain words?
then I got to think about a DEESS track? to correct some sibilance without changing the overall character.
