I guess you're saying I've got a decent home recording setup going then thumbsup

I was actually just looking at a lunchbox, so we'll see. I just wanted everyone to look at my stuff and spot the weakest link and maybe give some ideas for what I could improve on.

I don't see a decent analog compressor in your lineup...

That's like saying you're breaking up with your girlfriend because you got a subscription to penthouse.

I only need two channels because I'll dual mic my guitar cab, and it only takes one for vocals. So the RNP is great for that, all I need in a convenient, decent-sounding preamp. The Firebox is definitely a 'weak link', but the ONLY thing I'm using it for is for the converter and a midi interface. Basically, just the line ins so I can actually get everything on my PC. I think the converters are one of the last things you upgrade, so that'll come much later whenever I'm balling with everything else stike

Cubase works just fine for me. Though, I admit, a Mac altogether would be nice.

I wasn't blessed with living in such a great area, so no drummers, and definitely no good ones live around here. Sampled drums are my best choice for right now.

I'm not 100% on if I need one just yet or not, but we'll see. I'm thinking that I can maybe get by without compression, and just add some later on with a plug if necessary. If not though, I'm thinking of an RNC or the RNLA.

You know, I was here trying to get advice on what I could do to improve my rig and people start being ridiculous. Thanks to Manthe though.

i gotta say

'' I think the converters are one of the last things you upgrade''

made me wince a bit

as did the adding a bit of comp in the computer....

a lunchbox would let you upgrade your mic amp /eq/ and get you a comp to record thro

you will notice a MASSIVE differnce if you get say an MA5 pre with like an alto comp to record thro

personnally i think recorded gtrs benifit alot from some COMP ...not in the computer al real one like

we might be mucking about a bit but its all good advice

(not the splitting up with your girl bit)

Oh, looks like this has gone the way of the drifter...but I was going to suggest something more than the two inputs of the Firebox. And you did mention that you would be doing vocals, so something a bit nicer than the 57 and 58 might help...consider an SM7 or even an EV RE-20.
