Presonus Firebox is cheap (400) and has spdif I/O.

I have a Firepod and I think the sound quality is pretty good, and excellent for the price IMO.

thanks, that looks nice but is still oversized for me. Is there no interface with just USB or FireWire and one SPDIF or AES/EBU I/O ?

Do you happen to know how the sonic quality of the FireBox compares to the MotU 828 ?

I know it isn't just a spdif I/O but it is small enough to fit in one hand supposedly...

I don't know of anything smaller, plus it may come in handy to have the extra inputs/pres.

On the Motu vs. Presonus thing... I have not directly compared the two, but judging by the overall mixes I have heard from each and from others' thoughts, I would give the nod to the Presonus.
