call fletcher at mercenary. they are usually cool about letting you try for yourself and sending back if you are not satisfied. not sure if nathan has the same policy at atlas but i am sure he is flexible. give either a call. that said great river mp2nv is a great piece. you would not be dissapointed. cant comment on vintech. i cant imagine getting "bad" vocals from either. (unless vocalist sucks of course)

I wouldn't go near the Vintech[473] for voxs..
sold that thing off a while ago..good for some stuff..toms.keys DI,etc..
It had a Neve like quality to it ,but overall smaller and less detail.
1073,GR2nv,Chandler LTD-1,etc... all good for vox

The A Designs stuff is stunning on vocals, can't vouche for the Vintech.

Neither is 'better'. I've had experiences where, with the right vocalist, they've both been able to produce magic. And there have been times where they both were not right for the application or singer. They are on pretty opposite sides of the curve of the frequency spectrum. One is a little brighter, one is a little darker. I won't say which is which because I've got too many pitchfork scars and torch burns on my ass as it is. Honestly, I'd feel a little lost if I didn't own both. It would be like having to choose between putting on only a shirt or shoes (either way I won't get service at McDonalds).
