You ever see the Pink Panther movie with the fingernails on the black board scene??

If you know what mic and pre they used to record that then you have Yoko's vocal tone down......

I love some of Yoko's older music... nobody does some of those weird vocalisms like she did (does?)... and some of the places where she actually tries to sing work on, say, Season of Glass, because of the emotional context of the album (even though it was mostly done, as I understand it, before Lennon's death -- it's still amazingly resonant to me in that context).

But it seems like it's often problematic for art-rock outsiders when they start trying to sing straight... not everyone is KD Lang... or even Lydia Lunch.

Regular old singing can be hard for some folks who rejected it most of their artistic lives... a sometimes cruel paradox. Particularly for fans... heh

It seems weird when people who really dig Lennon bad-mouth Yoko. Those two certainly seemed to have found a very rare kind of happiness.

Besides that, I think Yoko brought out a side of John Lennon that was, at times, my favorite one. I think of 'She's So Heavy'.

Her first husband, Toshi Ichiyanagi wrote some pretty happening stuff, too.
