The Impressions were so freaking great

I think most people are familiar with Curtis Mayfield's fantastic 70's material, and everybody knows a few Impressions' hits like "People get Ready" and "I'm So Proud". Lately, I've been just overwhelmed by some of the band's more obscure late 60's material. Does anybody have any insight into the making of these two albums or this period of the band's history?

I know this was a time when the band was recording for Curtis' own label, but I can't seem to find much info on the studio or personell. I'm inclined to think they had their own studio as well. The arrangements on these albums are out of this world and on par with what Thom Bell would be doing in Philly soon thereafter.

What you got for me, oh wise ones?
