Spdif or line in

Alright, this might be a stupid question but I believe if ya don't know ask someone who does. If your setup looks like this..

Mic
Preamp
A/D
Audio Interface

Do you get a better sound using the Spdif into the interface or using the AES out of the A/D into the line in of your interface? Forgive my ignorance but I'm old school, use to XLR's all the way around. Just want the best sound possible. Thanks.

I don't think it matters too much, but you might as well use the AES if you've got it. It's more "professional", right?

You can't run Aes into a line in.. you need an Aes in to put it into... Aes is digital..

Are you talking about the XLR line in as in a mic input or an ANALOG line in? Unless you like the sound of digital hiss, you can't use that.

Rosetta

Think I'll just hold off and get a Rosetta and use the Firewire. Then I don't have to worry about it.
