I tended to mod a lot of my equipment but never the 163x i own..thats my bassguitar compressor since always and noise was never an issue.
Me too. My 163x is one of the few things I ever liked enough as is. But don't tell anybody. I need another one and I can't afford the prices floating up in the wake of this thread....
Speaking of instructions, I certainly would want someone to help me understand the level set knob. The concept is understandable but in actuality it doesn't seem to do all that much.
I recently purchased a used dbx163x and when I plug it in and the first 3 or 4 lights on the front panel light up. This happens with no cables hooked up yet. Is this normal?
While we're on the subject: Does anybody know whether the dbx 163x is more or less identical (sounding) to the old 163 (no letter)? I have a pair of the old ones and would love a few more - nice and dirty compression. But the ones that come up on eBay are usually x's.
Reviving an old thread to ask one simple question. Can the dbx 163x stereo strapping jack receive a signal so I could use the 163x as a ducking comp? My guess is no but wanted to see. And, I didn’t want to experiment just in case some kind of voltage is going through that jack. Thanks!
