Hi guys,

I am getting a Shadow Hills compressor in a couple of days.
It will be sent today.
I already have an Equinox (Deluxe 01 ) and I can imagine that the comp
sounds stellar, too.
Peter Reardon is a great guy and I predict him a great future.

Also, what a great people at Vintage King !!!

They are sending me the comp before actually getting the money.
It's Friday afternoon in Croatia and Banks are already closed.
That's a great example how to do the business !

Mike, Big Thanks !

Don't get me wrong, I've been waiting 14 months for it and not all the money
was paid at the time of ordering.
I had also phases when I wanted to give up , but Thank God I did not.

Peter where is that Eq you were talking about? I hope it doesn't take long this time.

I'm still waiting for mine and I paid over a year ago.

Just got mine today. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet. This thing is massive. I can't concentrate knowing it's now in my possession (must compress something...)

Good job, Peter.

I gave up with lot of pain.
Suffering was slightly compensated with addition of Thermionix Phoenix, Requisite Audio comp (can't believe this one is so good) and couple of SSL type compressors incl C2+C1.

P.S.

Welcome on board Zeljko !

Thanks for the welcome!

I see you compensated very well, although I haven't heard the Phoenix or Requisite Audio.

By the way I saw you bought the 5033's. How would you compare it to the
GR Eq?

P.S.

Do you speak Croatian or just a few words?

Got to play with my new SHMC today. First impression: Holy ****ing ****balls of Fire! This thing is badass. Even with just the slightest amount of compression, it's so sweet. Still wrapping my head around the opto compressor but the discrete compressor is the ****. You guys were right. It was worth the wait.

Plus, I had a client come by and his eyes bugged out his head when he saw it. Awesome.

It's great on everything..
Drum buss/room/kick/snare/overheads/Bass giuitar/Vocals..
And of course the 2 buss.
I wish I had two.

Once you delve into it's interactiveness,so many combinations.
there's no turning backheh

just got mine a couples days ago. . .

what can I say? I am in the middle or tracking the vocals for my album and my partner and I tracked through this badboy. It was so easy to dial in an amazing sound quickly. can't wait to dive into it further. unfortunatly, my second channel sounds all messed up and I must send it back to be fixed already. must have been the shipping gorilla! oh well. guess I will have to just track with the dual atomic squeezebox until it is fixed

Shawn,
Awesome, man. Welcome to the club! On a mix, or the master buss, I'm doing what Peter suggested and I thought I'd share it with you. In stereo mode, of course, switch out the Discrete and hit the Optical just hard enough to kiss it. Then, make up the gain for that part by switching the optical in and out to match the uncompressed mix. Once you've got that, then switch in the Discrete and give it whatever it needs.

This really is a super bad m*********er. I've never heard anything like it. So glad I rolled the dice early on and stuck with the wait.

RB, Hit me with some of your settings. I've been so swamped I haven't had time to experiment much. My 3rd kid is 7 days overdue. Today is my wedding anniversary. Was the little one waiting for that? Maybe! Anyway, I'd love to hear about your discoveries with our giant-knobbed gem here.

That's exactly what I was doing yesterday and it rocked. I was just playing around but that seemed like the logical way to start. One question for you guys: Are your meters aligned correctly? When I switch to optical, with no compression, the meters rest at 0. But when I switch to discrete, the meters (with no compression), jump up to +1.5. Any thoughts?

There is a warm up period before the Discrete falls to 0, I believe. However, if you find that after being powered on a while, it's still never getting there, it may need adjusting. After shipping, it's not hard to imagine it might need calibration. Email Peter about this. I know there are 2 tweak holes beneath the meters, but I'm not sure if one is for the optical function and the other is Discrete, or if the calibration switches when you switch the meter view. I wouldn't want you tweaking without talking to him first. I had the good fortune of having mine hand delivered by the man himself!

The unit had been on for a few hours when I noticed it so I don't think it was a warmup issue. I'll call Peter.

Thanks.

Just got off the phone with Peter. He had be swap the vca cards to see if the buzz went to the other channel. when I switch the cards, both channels worked perfectly. must have gotten loose in shipping or something. anyway, back to tracking vocals in total bliss!

I received the Comp Yesterday and it is really impressive both visually AND
sonically.
I am Sooo glad that this level of quality exists.
What to say, if you're in a (neverending) search for a Comp that covers so
many sounds and colors, don't miss at least demoing it.

Bravo Peter and Thanks Mike!
