Pink buttons?

QWERTY keyboard is VERY SMART IDEA and will be F handy. (it better be qwerty)

Can any Gearslutz at AES please check it out and report on it?

Woohoo

Pink buttons AND suede!

Yes Jules, God only knows why digi made their matrix A-Z and not QWERTY.

We need humans designing these things, not computer operators!

It looks expandable too. That kind of toy would be a huge boost to Nuendo. No more Houston.

wow. that really looks like a nice controller, aside from the color choice but i can live with that. switch to nuendo? i didnt much care for the APP when i played with 1.2 but its adding more features. does it have CR level control and talkback?

wonder what the cost will be?

Steinberg loves to make all their products as ugly and un-astheticly attractive as possible.

I'm not sure it's a keyboard at all... maybe a channel matrix a la ProControl

I did, but I liked the old color better, they were perfect.
Now even Prosound web has a better look ...

I Checked it out today

Hi guys,

I checked out the new controller today for about half an hour with Rob from Steinberg. I wasn't allowed touch it but he operated it and ran through the features. It wasn't ready and a lot of the features didn't work but he expected it to ship in three months.

It seemed very powerful and quite intuitive to use. That is a qwerty keyboard on there and it doubles up for all kinds of track arming and locate functions. I didn't check the fader feel but they seemed nice and quiet. It did have a control room section but instead of being analog attenuators the level controls actually control the monitoring in software. I didn't get enough info on the practicalities of this but it seemed clumsy to me. No surround joystick but they are going to add it b4 the launch. It isn't as ugly in real life but it isn't pretty either.

I asked about pricing and they said Pro-control ish. I'll check in again in the morning if you have any questions,

cheers,
Ruairi

Yeah, there is a USB port on the back apparently.

That worries me somewhat.

The initial word we've gotten on the thing is that it was done in conjunction with Euphuctus... is slated to run about $18k USD... and for all intents and purposes... sucks.

From what I understand there is a sub $2k USD control surface that does about the same thing, doesn't quite have the same "look", but about the same function.

Software control of monitor volume?

Now THAT's a new one!

Better be fool proof for the self powered monitor crowd!

(speaking of fool proof I managed to blast full scale digital zero material right to my self powered ADAMS - whoooooooops! (Pardon?))

If it was $1800 I still woudn't buy it. UGLY!!!!!! And it looks like it's not user friendly at all. What a shock from Steinberg. NOT. LOL. Whatever.
