RocketNetwork R.I.P

RocketNetwork, the company that pioneered online collaboration, announced that it's closing down by the end of this month...

On a level, it could have been foreseen because the price of the service was pretty dear and people took the service for granted (i.e. everybody signed for a free account), but it was still a bit of a surprise to me.

What do you think? Is there room for such a centralized collaboration service, or are we likely to see a something like an audio-dedicated FTP/Session&file management program?

Or do you see a future for online collab at all?

I picked up some cable from their "fire sale." They were here in San Francisco. You will never guess which 900 lb. gorilla bought the technology for pennies on the dollar.
