FWIW, there's also an earlier tube version of this eq: the UE-100.
also 6HU and 18 tubes inside.
I'd really really love to own one of these.

Man... This thread is what gearslutz is all about... I feel like I'm peaking over the pissguard in a public restroom looking at these pics.

so what's the absolute top piece of gear? When I think about TOP I think about Manley (Slam, VariMu, Massivo), Focusrite ISA, some oldies vintages... is there another level I don't know about?

@ battle angel:
they are eq's.
used to be a standard for vinyl mastering back in the 70ies.
all switching design in order to warrant neutral phase response.

as mentioned before, they have this nifty design allowing you to dial in the corner frequencies of the two mid bands. way more powerful than a mere q-factor pot.

I use them all the time for surgical corrections on critical material.
they are mono, so you'll need two UE 1000's and 12 free units of rack space for stereo tasks.

slutty, innit?

Well, not mega gear but fun stuff from last week. I had to move my studio into a church for some location work. Not something I'll not repeat without some serious racking and patchbays.

Here's one of me test driving the drum kit.

I've never seen another one... I think I heard that they only made about 25 of them. It's definitely a nice source selector/level controller, and looks better in the rack than my picture lets on. Red LED alphanumerics are so lovely.

Yeah, that's damn insane!

Think of how much power that thing probably consumes.
[... or is it a passive device?]
That's a pretty funky switch matrix,... way cool & unusual!

e-cue,

I didn't like the look of my old shop, so I went to the local fabric place and picked up a bunch of material for the shot. The purple stuff looked the best...

And for that, I'm almost grateful. But flashing on the vision of you sitting in a remote truck with a lap top, whishing you had just a few minutes of privacy...

Speaking of 'strokes' did you use any of the gear pictured when you recorded NYC's finest?

(deafening roar of crowd aplauding elegant subject change tactic)

Wow Dave,

This went much further then I thought it would for someone that didn't want to know about it...

Jules,

In 2002 I recorded The Strokes twice. Between the two gigs I used almost (there's that word again) everything on board the sound truck. You can see our list @ ASL Mobile Audio Truck Inventory

And, the following stuff in the picture...

2 - 1176LNs
1 - 330
1 - ADL1000
2 - TLA100s
1 - DCL200
1 - SSL comp/lim
1 - HEDD

Fuzzy,

We placed a Juice box (tube DI) on an aux buss for the lead vocal and drove the crap out of it until it sounded just right and their guest engineer eq'd juice box return feed to his taste. The band and engineer were very happy with the results.
