audio recording chain (esspecially FX)

What do you guys think of the following thoughts; the right order of the recording chain when it comes up the the fase of FX.

When you've end up all of your audio recording(s) session(s) with your specific settings for the mic,daw,audio-interface,sample rate/khz rate, DAW and so on. But without any FX on your files (dry material).

In other words; Can I use all of the FX options and isn't it the best overall workflow when I'm going to put my ''FX stadium'' at the end of the chain (in combi with editting the audio recordings)? So first ''make'' the audio (recording) and then editting and running some FX (hardware/software) over de audio recordings? Can I make a total overall FX use, when it comes up to all the possibilitys of FX, doing it the way I describe it above?

Why should I do it different?

How does your chain looks like, for the FX part. (hardware/software/vst/inserts)?
When does your fx stadium comes up in your chain/ way of working?
What are the pro's and the contra's?

some fx units cant handle the transients.
I wouldn´t use it before recording.

if we talk guitars, it sounds different when you put the fx through the amp than putting the fx over later, for example.

there is no rule, destroy, erase, improve...
