Find an Ensoniq Mirage. Should be way cheap. Gritty in the coolest way, IMO.

I have a Roland S330 (?) that fits the bill. You want it?

Casio SK1--an absolutely horrible sounding piece of **** which could have its uses as an effect.

I think they were about $100 new 15 (?) years ago, so they ought to be dirt cheap now, unless someone name-dropped it in Mix ("my secret weapon for snare...") and drove up the price on eBay.

I kinda doubt that happened, though.

Commodore Amiga, Octamed Soundstudio and a serial port sampler. Doesn't get much grittier than that.

I have an original 8bit Ensonic Mirage, serial #003 which I will rent out for an appropriate consideration...

Hi, heard the wave file, sounds like you want something like a Fairlight 2 (the Art of Noise sound) or an Emulator 2. these were state of the art back then.

The SK1 and Mirage are well crappy also. Another nice contendor is the Korg SDD2000 "sampling" delay, but I don't think it has MIDI.

yep..the Mirage sounds ideal..Also the S950 is "output hole heaven", although maybe not what you are after as after all it is a majestic 12 bits !
