MD 421 N pin out question

I've just scored an old white sennheiser MD 421 N from an auction site. It has it's own cable with an 'n' type connector. After a quick google search I found that n type connectors have Pin1=hot, Pin2=ground and Pin3=cold. I could cut the connector and solder an xlr connector accordingly:
pin1(xlr) goes to pin2(n)
pin2(xlr) goes to pin1(n)
pin3(xlr) goes to pin3(n)
or I can take it to sennheiser service and have it fitted with an xlr output.

What do you say?

DIN (Tuchel) plug is 1 live, 2 shield, 3 return.

XLR is 1 shield, 2 live, 3 return.
