TC Powercore Vs Universal Audio UAD-1

Anyone had a chance to compare these two (supposedly cool) bits of kit.
I'd appreciate any shared experiences involving either or both.

I tried them both and found that the UAD-1 suited me best.
The compressors and eq in the UA smoked the PC(IMHO)
I really liked the reverb too.
Now the powercore have a lot of 3rd party support and is a totally different product(softsynths ect...)
So it really depends on what you need....

UAD vs. the real stuff

plexi,

I also have an UAD-1 card in my PC and like it a lot.
but I just take it as a bunch of "good" quality plugins.
at least way better than the average directx-stuff.

having owned a silver face 1176 for a couple of years, I immediately recognized the characteristic compression behaviour, but somehow UAD's clone seams to be missing the punchy attack.
moreover, I'm afraid that this lack of punch will add up when mixing several "UAD'd" tracks.

has anyone had the opportunity to do a real-world comparison between the UAD clones and their hardware counterparts?

or does anyone know a source on the web with MP3 examples?

feel free to bash the UAD-card if you think so - just looking for opinions...

cheers,

michael
