tracking heavy guitars

Looking for some GS insight into tracking a 2 guitar band in the style of say Alice in chains /meets Black sabbath. Some parts are in unison others parts are complimentary. Looking for insights as to panning and double tracking. Such as double both guitarist and pan each to one side or don't double ... I know the correct answer is do what sounds best but curious as to what some of your approaches would be ?

Do a search, you'll find so much info on this exact topic it'll make your head spin. In fact there's a nearly identical thread going on about this subject right now. Just look around.
