Tascam 35-2B

I bought my Tascam 35-2B 1/4" reel to reel brand new back in the day. It still looks like new and was hardly ever used, but it's going to need some maintenance (basically the braking is way too fast and tape snaps). I don't have a mixdown deck of any kind right now and wondered if it's a good idea to get this thing back up and running for a few hundred bucks or spring for the new Tascam digital hard drive recorder (or something similar). Any opinions? Is it really worth getting it fixed up? I thought it would be cool to do the final mix to tape. I track into a HD24XR.
