If you walk to the opposite side of the block Chuck's is on there's Washington Professional Systems (Washington Professional Systems), which is Chuck's true pro audio wing (Chuck's being more prosumer-y). To get there, walk out of Chuck's and make a right, make a right at the corner, make a right at the next corner (Grandview) and WPS is on your right. I'm not sure what they have on-hand at any given time, but it might be worth checking out.

Perhaps more importantly, between Chuck's and WPS, after you make that first right, on your right, is Sabang, an Indonesian restaurant that is to die for. There's also a great used book/vinyl store a couple blocks away (Bonifant Books). Hollywood East, two blocks away on University Blvd., has AMAZING dim sum...

I'm sorry, what was this thread about?

Sadly, I don't know of any other pro audio place in the DC area. Wasn't there a place in VA that was selling Buzz Audio stuff..? -E

Odds are pretty good WPS will have an API on hand. Hell, you could conceivably get 'em from API (about 30 minutes from WPS). Of course, then eating at Sabang would be harder. Give WPS a call; it's very Metro (subway/rail/tube) accessible. -E

Wow! I never knew. I planned on stopping by Chuck's for some rack rails and maybe a wah pedal. I'll have to check WPS out.

If it's anything like their M St. location, definitely try it out.

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure we're talking about two different restaurants. Are you thinking of ... Saigonese? Near Wisconsin? Regardless, you should have a good evening

I'm not sure how great WPS is for a simple drop in, but it might be worth doing as long as you're going to Chuck's. And stopping in at Sabang ... Okay, I'll stop.

Ha! Actually, I was thinking of Penang, a Malaysian restuarant. Sabang, Penang... kinda close.

Ahhhh. Malaysian and Indonesian are somewhat similar, although I think Indonesian--while earthy like Malaysian--is a lot more flavorful, like adding sweet transformers to a good but bland pre ... See how I tied it all together, however sketchily? -E

Penang is pretty good. I don't usually go down that way except to go there, or maybe stop by Southworth Guitars.

Really? That must have been pretty recent. I suppose that's better for Gil, given what the rent must have been and how little walk-in traffic he was getting. The problem I see with that business strategy is that it makes even fewer places you can wax your vintage gear lust. I hope he's just relocating some place cheaper. I'd hate for Atomic to be the only used gear place on this side of town.
