Home Studio Attrition rate

A purely fun question that I don't know the answer to - what percentage of home studios do you suppose are never used or ultimately dismantled?

Based on my experience in the secondhand market, it seems that a lot of people have dreams of recording music that are never realized. I wonder if it's like gym memberships where people expect the results to follow if they just buy in.

Maybe someone in retail has a guess based on the number of total non-serious newbies versus serious customers.
