Lunchbox or Stand Alone

Good Day,

I have been out of the recording scene for a few years because of my IT consulting business taking off. Now that things have settled down I am putting togeather all those stored items for recording into a new control room.

When I packed it up 4-5 years ago I sold most of my mic pres (except for 1 neve clone I really liked).

My question is this.

Are the various lunchbox pres available today as good as their stand alone counterparts.

Assuming cost is not an issue which way would you proceed to rebuild a decent selection of mic pres. I write and record my own version of good ole' rock&roll.

Any information is appreciated.
