neve 3415A - worth racking

I have a neve 3415A module. Is it worth it to rack it? Will it sound cool? What should I expect to pay?

Hi

If you have the time and patience to wade through the posts on my Ask Geoff forum, there are plenty of posts about racking a 33415.

You have to be prepared to stump up many $$$ for stepped switches, metalwork, power supplies, etc. These don't come cheap and you'll need good soldering skills and a basic understanding on what you are doing.

It will make a nice mic pre but it'll only be as good as the care and research that you'll put into making it. Otherwise it's not worth the bother.

I appreciate the advice. I checked your forum and I still can't get a figure to what it would cost to rack....but most of the power stuff, I'm lost. I can solder well enough, but understanding the phase, pad and knobs for gain would probably kill me.

Would take about the same time ect as an older 312 card, phantom, pad, power supply.
For one channel it may not be worth it.
I have racked several of those in 2 channel units.
