The 299 dollar multi-pattern, Cascade Elroy tube mic is a ShuaiYin SYT-3000 with custom body and trim colors - otherwise a stock K67-style 32mm capsule Chinese tube mic without the HF de-emphasis Neumann intended to be used (and thus too bright) with the K67 capsule. In this price and feature range you've also got a choice of the Apex 460 ($215) and the CAD Trion 8000 ($279). While all of them deliver a sound with capsule and circuit compromises fairly apparent, the Apex 460 is popular among DIY'ers because its low initial cost leaves more money in the pocket for upgrades.
