cleanliness is next to godliness

Well if this topic doesnt get your blood flowing i dont know what will!

I need to clean up and polish my guitar, and i dont want to use the 409 in the kitchen. . This all came about cuz i was trying to reload on some of the stock PRS strings that came with my custom 22 (which i adore, its ruby red). So at the prs site you must purchase 25$ minimum and i was looking at their cleaning products. Their stuff is like twice as much as the fender cleaning/polishing solutions at sweetwater. their polishing rag is like 5x as much so i smell a rip. The thing is, I am now seeing that some cleaners are formulated for nitro only or poly only, and some for both. I would like to use the cleaner for an old 69 rivoli bass in sunburst as well, but i dont know what finish either guitar is.
Any advice either on cleaning/polishing "solutions" or on what finishes i have?

Thanks
chris

I use Martin Guitar polish and retired cotton baby diapers to clean all my guitars. Been doing this for years. The finish on all my guitars are doing just fine.
