Old James Taylor Recordings

I've always been a JT fan. A local university radio station recently played 4 songs from his Mud Slide Slim and One Man Dog CDs. Wow! Talk about great old warm sounding analog! Not to mention nice songs. Gotta dig em out and give a listen.

Mud Slide Slim was recorded by Terry Manning if I'm not mistaken.

Perhaps you could ask him about the tidbits in his forum Whatever Works at REP: PSW Recording Forums: Welcome to the forum

I heard one time that he used to cut his acoustic and vocals on one mic. Pretty cool if it's true.

For me the quintessential James Taylor album is JT.
Produced by Peter Asher. Absolutely classic!

I saw him live once here in Glasgow Concert Hall a few years ago and I tell you, to be able to play that acoustic guitar like him, you really need to shut the doors and windows over yourself for some 4-5 years before doing the circuit continuously for another 10 years, all without losing your will to live or to touch that guitar again.

The guy is depressingly good on that instrument.

His son could do better as an insurance salesman, though. I don't know why he keeps carrying him around from stage to stage. The kid doesn't have it and will never have it no matter how much his daddy pushes it.
