U A 2192 ? I am an idiot. please read

Here's my situation. I am currently running Logic using a Firestudio as the intermediary between my outboard mic pres (Universal Audio, Summit Audio, Chandler and API) I run each outboard pre into the mic input of the Firestudio which is connected through firewire to the computer. I realize there are converters in the Firestudio but have the opportunity to test a UA 2192. Now I'm wondering how do I fit this into my signal chain?
Any help would be appreciated.

Output of mic pre to analog input of 2192

Digital out SPDIF of 2192 into digiital in SPDIF of Firestudio

Digital out SPDIF of Firestudio into digital in SPDIF of 2192

Analog output of 2192 into monitors

Be sure to clock your Firestudio from the digital input of the 2192.

One other thing...

Because spdif carries wordclock information in one direction (and you're going two ways) you'll need to connect the wordclock out of the UA to the wordclock in of the presonus. Then you'll need to set the clock source to external wordclock in on the presonus.

Hope that helps.

i'd love to know your reasoning behind patching a line level signal from your outboard pres back into the ****ty mic level signal of your firething. find a line input on your interface and use that instead.

The Firestudio has 6 inputs that can be used as either mic or line level inputs. The conversion on that unit is anything but "****ty" actually!

The other thing... You said mic pres go into mic input on Firestudio? Did you mean line input...I hope?

You don't want to run your micpres into the Presonus micpres...
