Rosette 200 is it ok???

Just tryed the Rosetta 200 today, think it sounds quite ok! whay do you think???
Im going out of PTHD (32ch) into a Neotek mixer w/uptown faders. the Rosetta takes the St.bus signal and puts it in to PT for mixdown. I think it works quite well.....Have any one tryed this?

not a neotek, but i did it with my tascam board, i love what it does to the buss signal, like that lil low end bump and boosted highs, it is colored, not transparent, but i use it to track to PTHD nowthumbsup

the 200 is average by todays standards. Way better converters available
I wouldn't buy one. Maybe for $500 or less

when buying converters to go with our HD system, we tried lavry blue, benchmark, and the rosetta 200 -- i know the lavry and benchmark are supposed to be better, but our ears said buy the rosetta, which we did, and we still like it a lot... ymmv

Which converters are better than the 200?

Well, Prism. Lavry.

Apogee seems to be the first good step in professional converters. Mytek and Lucid are usually considered fairly close to the same quality. People lean either way.

It is OK. Compared to non-Apogees (Lavry, Benchmark, Lynx) it has slightly more warmth (for whatever reason) and I like Apogee family sounds for many applications (although I have and use sometimes Lavry, AMEK and Benchmark conversion).
Really better converters cost much more and real need for them is questionable.

Got the same set up with an MCI 536. No complaints here. Accept we got the rosetta because it could be hooked to PT through the AES, and a pc through fire wire at the same time. The control software is a little funny in that it takes control of the 200, and may change the settings, but the front panel doesn't reflect the changes. So, it might be at one sample rate, but say it's at another when the PC is on. Kinda scary.

"OUCH"

what do you Rosetta owners think about the automatic level function, any downsides?
I get overs in PT without reaching "ouch" on the Rosetta and thats with the SL in.
