Tracking in headphones - good or bad?

Hi all,

Let me begin by explaining that I make electronic music using softsynths and samples. I understand that when mixing it is almost essential that monitors are used, but how about when I am simply recording/arranging my tracks? Is it possible to get by just using headphones until I need to mix?

Appreciate your replies.

yup, entirely possible

just look after your ears and make sure you get to know the sound of your cans well before you start

sure why not.

onece in a while check a with regular monitors. our ears will naturally start getting numb or tired and we will lower the highs or bump stuff in the EQ so have a comercial CD running so compare once in a while.
